Biography
My name is Maria Rui Sousa. I am Associate Professor in the Nursing School of Porto (Portugal) since 2000,and member of the Research Unit of the Nursing School in particular the Unit of Self-care. I have a graduation in Nursing (1988) and a post-graduate degree in Nursing Community (1998). I have a graduate degree, MSc in Health Education (2004) and a PhD in Nursing Sciences (2015). I teach the disciplines of nursing community, familiar health and chronic self-management disease in undergraduate degree in Nursing and the disciplines of health community in the MSc in Nursing Community. I have guided students in their thesis. I developed my dissertation and thesis both related to adherence to the therapeutic regimen in patients with diabetes. I´ve published some articles in journals with peer review and made several presentations in national and international conferences focused in adherence of therapeutic regimen, self-careand empowerment.
