Projects KTP - Ability Matters McGarry, Anthony (Principal Investigator) Solomonidis, Stephanos (Co-investigator) Period 06-Mar-2017 - 05-Mar-2019 An EPSRC Life Sciences Interface Doctoral Training Centre for Medical Devices | Lau, Hin Chung Black, Richard (Principal Investigator) Solomonidis, Stephanos (Co-investigator) Lau, Hin Chung (Research Co-investigator) Period 01-Oct-2006 - 16-Jan-2013 BTG: Location of the human hip joint centre using mathematical modelling techniques Conway, Bernard (Academic) Solomonidis, Stephanos (Academic) Kaklis, Panagiotis (Academic) Barrenechea, Gabriel (Academic) Gait analysis is used for the evaluation of prosthetic/orthotic devices, orthopaedic implants, and for the treatment of various medical conditions. To study joint kinetics and kinematics during gait analysis, it is necessary that the position of the Hip Joint Centre (HJC) is determined as accurately as possible. It is difficult to obtain the exact location of the HJC as it is very deeply seated inside the body, surrounded by several layers of soft tissues. In this project we aim to develop a mathematical model to accurately predict the location of the HJC. We will also explore the use of ultrasonics for HJC location
