Biography
Elitza P. Markova-Car was born on 25th of March, 1973 in Sofia, Bulgaria. In July, 1997 she received MSc degree with honours at Sofia University, Faculty of Biology, Department of Cytology, Histology and Embryology, specialized in the field of cell and developmental biology. In 1998 Elitza Markova-Car obtained Japanese Government Monbusho Scholarship for PhD Student position, Kobe University, Kobe, Japan. In September, 2003 she received PhD in Molecular Cellular Science, Kobe University, Graduate School of Science and Technology, Department of Molecular Science, Division of Molecular Cellular Science, Kobe, Japan. From 2005-2009 she was Senior research assistant at Department of Histology and Embryology, Medical Faculty Rijeka, University of Rijeka, Rijeka, Croatia where she focused on investigating the role of immunoevasion genes during chronic cytomegalovirus infection using molecular methods. Since 2009, Elitza Markova-Car is Assistant professor at Department of Biotechnology, University of Rijeka, Rijeka, Croatia, and she is involved in lecturing and molecular medicine research.
