Biography
Dr. Per Bruheim is associate professor in microbial physiology and analytical biochemistry at Department of Biotechnology (IBT), Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology. His Present research activities and fields of interests on Mass spectrometry based Metabolomics (in combination with various separation technologies: gas and liquid chromatography, ion capillary chromatography, convergence chromatography/ supercritical fluid extraction, capillary electrophoresis), method development for metabolite analysis and application on stress response studies in bacteria and yeast, microbial physiology and metabolism for production of primary and secondary metabolites, bioprospecting and identification of novel compounds with various bioactive properties (antibiotics, pigmentation etc). Carbon and energy metabolism of cancer cells – using the novel metabolome and fluxome methodology developed and established in the MS laboratory. I am main responsible person for establishment and running of the Mass Spectrometry core facility at the NT-faculty, NTNU. The laboratory is currently equipped with eight MS instruments (GC-MS, LC-MS, Maldi-TOF/TOF) for both qualitative and quantitative analyses.
