Biography
Dr. Jong Seok Lee has worked on tuberculosis research field since 1995. His research Interests was started from conventional and molecular TB diagnositics, moved to genetics and drug discovery during education period. During PostDoc period at Max-Plank Institute for Infections Biology in Germany, he focused mainly on figure out virulent factors of M. tuberculosis through whole genome sequencing of virulent and avirulent M. tuberculosis and also interested in differently expressed genes between virulent and avirulent M. tuberculosis. Since I joined International Tuberculosis Research Center (ITRC) as a section head, I have supervised TB diagnostics as a part of clinical studies conducted at ITRC and also have participated projects to develop new TB diagnostic technologies in collaboration with other consortium and/or scientists. One of the outcome from ITRC was involved in the development of second Xpert cartridge to diagnose XDR-TB. In recent years, focus on whole genome sequence comparision among Korean M. tuberculosis and establish analysis platform of M. tuberculosis genome.
