Biography
She has been a member of the DEREE English department faculty since 1999, and has taught across the curriculum. She currently teaches Professional Communication, Interpersonal Communication, but also teaches Presentation Skills and Academic Writing. She was appointed Area Coordinator of Professional Communication in September 2010. Her research interests include the role of higher education in addressing global issues and empowering the youth and the extent to which the Internet and social media can address the compelling needs of the citizens of tomorrow. Her recent conference paper argued the importance of “Dialogic Pedagogy. Gina Kostoulias brings a rich business background to her teaching as diverse as her cultural background from Australia and Greece, which ranges from arts management, event planning, cultural advising, public relations, journalism, sports journalism (hockey), editing, and communication coaching. She has worked for the public and private sector as well as the not-for-profit sector. As a freelance journalist she has written for cultural magazines from book and theater reviews to articles on current social issues, and is the author of the short fairy-tale, The Beginning of the End. As a communication coach she has worked with numerous executives to overcome fear of public speaking, presentation skills, interviewing, and intercultural competence. Gina Kostoulias has received the international award for excellence in management for Cult Productions and has been interviewed by Oikonomikos Taxidromos and 3xy, SBS-Radio Melbourne, Australia.
