Daniela Puzzo

Biography

Prof. Daniela Puzzo (born November 14, 1973, Catania) is an Italian neuroscientist who contributed to study the role of amyloid-beta peptide in hippocampal synaptic plasticity and memory in physiological conditions and neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease. She graduated in Medicine and Surgery with honors and obtained her PhD in ”Applied Biomedical Sciences”and the specialization in Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Catania. She also earned a Music Piano Diploma and attended several masters in Integrative Medicine, focusing on herbal medicine and acupuncture. Prof. Puzzo performed her post-doctoral training at Nathan Kline Institute (Orangeburg, NY, USA) and at the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s disease and the Aging Brain at Columbia University (New York, NY, USA). She has been awarded for a fellowship at the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America and for the SIF Prize (Italian Society of Physiology). From 2008 she is Assistant Professor in Physiology at the University of Catania.
