Biography
Giuseppe Mancia is Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Milan-Bicocca,(Milan) Italy His principal research interests are pathophysiology, clinical pharmacology and therapy for hypertension, congestive heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases. Professor Mancia is past-President of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH), the European Society of Hypertension (ESH), the European Society of Clinical Investigation (ESCI) and the Italian Society of Hypertension (SIIA). He has served as Chairman of the Working Group on Hypertension and the Heart of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the Committee for the 2003, 2007, 2009 and 2013 ESH/ESC Guidelines on Hypertension. Professor Mancia has received a number of research awards including the Heymans Award, the Volhard Award (ISH), the Folkow Award (ESH), the International Arrigo Recordati Prize and the Invernizzi Prize on Medicine. He has also received degrees Honoris Causae by several European Universities and is Honorary member of several Scientific Societies. He has published more than 1500 papers in international journals. He is in the list of the "highly cited" of ISI (Philadelphia). His papers have received more than 8.000 citations with a H-index of 124.
