Biography
My name is Dr. Bin-Nan Wu. I got my Ph.D. degree on July 1995 at Kaohsiung Medical College, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. I am currently a professor at Kaohsiung Medical University, working at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine. So far, my research focuses on pharmacotherapy of chronic constriction injury-induced neuropathic pain and pulmonary arterial hypertension, vascular biology, molecular pharmacology, and the role of ion channels in controlling smooth muscle contractions and pain behaviors. Our team explores ion channel behavior by monitoring the ionic currents and cytosolic Ca2+ in isolated cells, and its mRNA and protein levels. My laboratory is able to examine the electrical basis of blood vessel and neuronalfunction from the cellular to integrative levels. My laboratory is currently funded to study the molecular and ionic mechanisms of some novel agents to prevent and/or treat chronic constriction injury-induced neuropathic pain.
