Biography
Susana Casal was born in Porto, Portugal, where she first received her degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1996, and later a PhD degree in Nutrition and Food Chemistry (2004) with the development of several analytical methodologies for food quality and authenticity control. Presently she is assistant professor at the Oporto Faculty of Pharmacy in the field of food chemistry, food technology and nutrition. Her main research interests are focused in food chemistry and nutrition, with the development, improvement and application of analytical methodologies for food and biochemical analyses and surveys by diversified chromatographic techniques (SPE/SPME/HPLC/GC). She is author/co-author of more than 130 scientific papers and book chapters.
