Research Interest
My research is focused on the field of fish physiology – endocrinology . Main research interests are: (i) Reproductive physiology . How photoperiod and water temperature synchronize the annual reproductive cycle and spaw ning of farmed fish? How temperature regulates sex differentiation in European sea bass? Which is the endocrine basis for the completion of gonadal maturation ( role of thryroid hormones, sex steroids and vitellogenin ) and successful spawning ( role of maturation induced steroids )? (ii) Physiology of pigmentation . How environmental (light intensity & quality, water temperature and nutrition) and neuro-endocrine factors (adrenoceptors, catecholamines, MSH, melatonin, thyroid hormones) control skin colour in cultured fish? (iii) Adaptation physiology . Ontogenesis and molecular regulation of the stress response in fish. How fish cope with noxius stimuli, environmental and husbandry stressors?
