Biography
My first effort at plant breeding came as an 8 year old when I attempted to graft a pea vine to an apple tree in my backyard. The thought of creating a plant that consisted of both a fruit and vegetable excited me. Despite the negative outcome and my mom's initial reaction to the damaged tree, this experiment pushed me to understand what I did wrong and how better preparation would lead to success in future research projects.
Research Interest
My passion lies in understanding environmental relationships for agricultural improvement as well as refining varieties for plant based products in biotechnology. Nature provided us with a wonderful set of hereditary tools. I use them strategically to produce useful products.
