Education: Geography - B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. Planning MSc. Scientific & Professional Awards: The Arthur Ruin Award in Social Science 1983 (with A. Soffer); Member for life at the Johns Hopkins University Society of Scholars (1993); Israel's Association of Geography award for 'significant and extended contribution to the development and the promotion of applied Geography and Planning (2009); The 2011 ' Notable Person of Planning' awarded by Israel's Association of Planners (2010). Main Public and Professional Offices: President, Israel's Planners Association 1982-3; 1984-6; President, Israel's Geographical Association 1986-8; Member & Chairperson Social Science Research Review Committee, Israel Science Fund 1982-3;2003 – 06; Member/Chairperson Committees of Israel's National Statistical Council,1992 -2010; Member, National Committee of Geography, Israel National Academy of Science 1988 1992; Chairperson/ Member, Committees on Municipal Affairs, appointed by the Minister of the Interior 1984 – 2015; Member, Haifa District Planning Commission ( 2007 to date); Member, International Review Committee, Israel's University Departments of Geography appointed by the Minister of Education (2012).
