Biography
Mitsuru Shoji was born in 1972 in Sakata, Japan. He received his Ph.D. in 1999 from Tohoku University under the supervision of Professor Masahiro Hirama. From 1999 through 2001, he joined the group of Professor K. C. Nicolaou as a postdoctoral fellow at The Scripps Research Institute. In 2001, he became an assistant professor at Tokyo University of Science. He started working as a lecturer at Tohoku University in 2006. He was promoted to an associate professor at Keio University in 2009. His research interests include total synthesis of natural products and innovation of synthetic method. He received Young Scientist's Research Award in Natural Product Chemistry (2003), Award in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Japan (2003), and the Chemical Society of Japan Award for Young Chemists (2006).
