Biography
Dr. Luciana Mosca was born in Rome, Italy, on Dec 30th, 1967. She got her degree in Pharmacy in 1991, a PhD in Biochemistry in 1994 and a postdoctoral Specialization in Nutrition in 1999 at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. In 2010 she also obtained a Master’s degree in Clinical Research. Since September 1998 Dr. Mosca is Tenured Researcher in Biochemistry at the Department of Biochemical Sciences, School of Pharmacy and Medicine, University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Dr. Mosca has a long-standing experience in the field of neurodegenerative diseases and oxidative stress. Her research is mainly focused on the study of neuronal cell death induced by parkinsonian neurotoxins or amyloid-beta peptide and on the identification of both natural and synthetic molecules able to counteract neurotoxicity, in cultured cells as well as in vivo in animal models. She is author of about 50 full papers in international peer-reviewed journals, more than 50 abstracts presented at national and international meetings, 5 book chapters and 1 patent. She is also referee for many journals in the field.
