I would like to analyze several aspects of the molecular mechanisms of sorting and transport of receptors and synaptic proteins through the secretory pathway and understand how these proteins are targeted to a specific location in neurons during development, synaptic plastic events in the brain, and how diseases might affect these movements. My interests lie both in the signal transduction pathways involved and in the membrane trafficking processes that regulate transport by moving receptor-containing vesicles. Part of my efforts is directed towards studying the transport of proteins implicated in human pathologies.
