Biography

Studied at the Agricultural University of Athens (Dep. of Agricultural Biotechnology), from which graduated in 1992 with GPA 80%. Holding a Doctorate Degree (PhD) from the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Dundee, Scotland, UK, 2001. For 9 years worked at the Benaki Phytopathological Institute as a Researcher-Plant Nematologist and resigned at the degree of Research Associate. Currently is Assistant Professor of Plant Protection at the Department of Greenhouse Crops and Floriculture at the Technological Educational Institute of Messolonghi. Has lectured at the Department of Greenhouse Crops and Floriculture and the Department of Agricultural Products Technology of the Technological Educational Institute of Kalamata as a Research Fellow, 2005-2009. Has published 33 papers in international scientific journals and more than 30 papers in international and Greek conferences. Is a reviewer in international and Greek scientific journals and an active member of several Hellenic and international Scientific Societies. Has coordinated 16 scientific research projects and participated in another 4, one of which funded by the GSRT. Have also been a Management Committee Member in a COST action. Research interests focus: Biological and integrated insect and plant parasitic nematode management. Interactions between plant parasitic nematodes - viruses - host plants. Systematic classification of plant parasitic nematodes. Diversity and dispersal studies, particularly of Globodera, Xiphinema and Meloidogyne. Interactions between entomopathogenic nematodes - host insects. Interactions between entomopathogenic nematodes - plant parasitic nematodes.
