Karkalakos Sotirios

Biography

Sotiris Karkalakos is Associate Professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Piraeus. He received a BS in Economics from Piraeus University, a Master of Science (MSc) in Finance from Florida Atlantic University (USA) and a PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA). He has worked at the University of Exeter (UK), Keele University (England), DePaul University (United States of America) and at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (United States of America). His research activity focuses on regional development, business tax competition, micro-economics and spatial analysis. He has publications in international journals such as the European Economic Review, the  Canadian Journal of Economics , Regional Science and Urban Economics , the International Journal of Finance and Economics , the Journal of Macroeconomics and the Journal of Applied Economics, as well as in collective volumes. At the same time, he is an academic reviewer in the  European Economic Review , Canadian Journal of Economics , Journals of International Economics,  Journal of Urban Economics, Regional Studies and Journal of Applied Economics . Finally, he participates in conferences both in Greece and abroad.
