Biography

Dr. Hadjigeorgiou is a Professor of Neurology and a research neuroscientist of the Department of Neurology in the Faculty of Medicine of University of Thessaly, Greece. He graduated School of Medicine (MD), National & Kapodistrian University of Athens where he also got my Doctoral degree (both degrees with excellence). His postdoctoral training includes post-doctoral research fellowships in University of Milano, and Columbia University, New York in the field of genetics of metabolic myopathies and mitochondrial encephalomyopathies. Research Interest

Genetic basis and epidemiology of myopathies including metabolic myopathies, mitochondrial encephalomyopathies, muscular dystrophies, etc. Genetic basis and epidemiology of Neurodegenerative Diseases including Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, Stroke, Motor Neuron Disease, etc. Contribution of genetic factors in immune-pathogenesis of Multiple Sclerosis Restless Legs Syndrome
