Biography

Mr. Dicky Peter Yip was appointed to the Board of Directors of DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited on 8 April 2013. Mr. Yip is currently an independent non-executive director of South China Holdings Company Limited (formerly known as South China (China) Limited) and Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd., and an independent director of DSG International (Thailand) PLC. Mr. Yip joined The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (“HSBC”) in Hong Kong in 1965. From January 2003 to May 2005, Mr. Yip was appointed chief executive of HSBC China, he became the general manager of HSBC in from April 2005 to June 2012. Mr. Yip was the executive vice president of Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. from May 2005 to June 2012.  He was also a director of Bank of Shanghai, Ping An Insurance and Ping An Bank in China from November 2002 to May 2005. Mr. Yip received the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award for his contribution to the banking industry and the community in Hong Kong and MBE by the British government in 1984; and later appointed Justice of Peace (JP) in 1999. He also received the Bronze Bauhinia Star awarded by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government in 2000. He is now serving a second term as a member of Shanghai CPPCC. In addition, he is active in community and youth activities in various service organizations such as Hong Kong Committee for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and The Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps.
