Research Interest
Complex and well-defined microstructures are interesting for both applied and fundamental research. One of the major challenges in this field is in fabrication of these structures with sufficient precision and good scalability, e.g., the fabrication difficulty is an outstanding obstacle in the emerging branch of optics based on metallic subwavelength materials. Our research aims to develop economical and versatile approaches to address the above problem. In the long term, this effort will enable a wide range of nanomaterials that cannot be conveniently accessed by the current methods, and thus offer a new platform for theoretical studies and for promising applications such as chemical and biological sensors, optical barcodes for high-throughput screening, self-reporting drug carriers, and electrode materials of solar cells, batteries, and supercapacitors.
