Biography
Dr. Lake Lui Ching-wu is an Assistant Professor and Programme Leader of Master of Social Science Education in Greater China Studies [MSocScEd(GCS)] with the Department of Asian and Policy Studies (APS) of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (FLASS) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). Dr. Lui is a sociologist who received her Ph.D. from the University of Washington. Her major research interest is gender, family and migration. Her research uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to examine marriage formation process, household dynamics and fertility decisions in both rural and urban China. She loves doing fieldwork and doing demographic research and has a strong belief in using mixed methods to generate new knowledge. She has written a book and various papers examining household division of labour in Hong Kong families. Dr. Lui was a recipient of The Emerald Literati Outstanding Paper Award (2017) for her paper entitled Sexual Harassment of Women in China: The Role of Liberal Sex Attitudes. EDUCATION
