Biography
Professor Hao Sun is currently an assistant professor at the Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences (LiHS) and the Department of Chemical Pathology. He also serves as the Director of Biomedical Computing Centre at LiHS. He received his Ph.D. in the field of Environmental Chemistry from Nanjing University, China in 1998 and a M.S. degree in Computer Science from The University of Akron, USA in 2002. Before he joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2009, he worked as a Co-Director of the Bioinformatics Core Facility in Wistar Institute at Philadelphia, USA during 2008 to 2009 and as a Research Scientist/Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Virology, Immunology and Medical Genetics, College of Medicine and Public Health, at The Ohio State University, USA from 2001 to 2008. His research interests focus on genomics and bioinformatics. Specifically, he is working on to understand the fundamental aspects of transcriptional regulation of both coding and noncoding RNAs using integrated genomic and bioinformatics approaches. In addition, his interests also cover the development of bioinformatics approaches for non-invasive genetic diagnosis and novel biomarker discovery.
