Biography
Professor Janita Chau received her undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She is a Professor of the Nethersole School of Nursing and the Assistant Dean (Alumni Affairs) of the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK. She is also an Honorary Advanced Practice Nurse of the Prince of Wales Hospital, and a research advisor of the Princess Margaret Hospital. Professor Chau has taken a number of initiatives that focus on the development and implementation of clinical practice guidelines and the evaluation of clinical outcomes. She has conducted numerous workshops and seminars to equip practicing nurses with the ability to critically appraise research evidence and apply research evidence into practice. Professor Chau is also deeply committed to the transfer of knowledge and the promotion of public health. She has collaborated with nursing staff of the New Territories East Cluster hospitals to develop and operate healthcare websites for diabetes clients and clients with chronic illnesses. She is also a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing in the specialty of Education and Research. Her research interests include evidence-based nursing practice; systematic reviews and meta-analyses; teaching and learning; knowledge transfer; infection control; health informatics; promotion of public health; nursing manpower planning; and stroke rehabilitation. She has obtained over HK$9M in research funding including 11 grants related to knowledge transfer and teaching and learning enhancement. Professor Chau teaches nursing and gerontology programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has received numerous teaching awards including the Vice-Chancellor's Exemplary Teaching Award (CUHK, 2009), Master Teacher Award (CUHK Faculty of Medicine, 2003) and Teacher of the Year Awards (CUHK Faculty of Medicine, 1999-2003, 2010-2013, 2015-2016).
