Biography
Gerard Kleisterle was a Non-executive Director. Born September 28, 1946. A Dutch national, appointed a Non-executive eDirector of the Company with effect from November 2010. He was President/Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Management of Koninklijke Philips N.V. from 2001 to 2011. Having joined Philips in 1974, he held several positions before being appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Philips’ Components division in 1999 and Executive Vice-President of Philips in 2000. From 2010 to 2013, he was a member of the board of Directors of Dell Inc., from 2009 to 2014, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG and, from 2014 to 2016, he was a Non-executive Director of IBEX Global Solutions plc. He is Chairman of Vodafone Group plc and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ASML Holding N.V.

The New Energies business has been established to explore and invest in new low-carbon opportunities. In Downstream, we focus on turning crude oil into a range of refined products, which are moved and marketed around the world for domestic, industrial and transport use. In addition, we produce and sell petrochemicals for industrial use worldwide. Shell’s oil sands mining activities in North America are also part of the Downstream organisation. Our Projects & Technology business is responsible for delivering new development projects and the research and development that leads to innovative and low-cost investments for the future.
