Biography
Dr. Aileen Chan has been serving at the Nethersole School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) since 1997. During the years she has taken a variety of teaching and administrative roles including Instructor, Lecturer, Professional Consultant, Clinical Practice Coordinator, Assistant Programme Coordinator and Chief Year Coordinator. Currently, Dr. Chan is an Assistant Professor of the School. Dr. Chan received her Ph.D. in Social Medicine from CUHK. Her research interest focuses on using Tai chi and Qigong as an intervention to improve physiological, psychosocial and functional health of patients with chronic illnesses. She has conducted studies on using Tai chi and Qigong on people with chronic illnesses, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cognitive impairment and sleep disturbances. Her current studies include extending the use of Tai chi and Qigong on people with cardiovascular risk factors and on older adults.
