Biography
Prof. Nguyen is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in 2015, and a Master of Science degree in mathematics in 2011 and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and economics in 2007 from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is originally from Hanoi, Vietnam.Prof. Nguyen’s research primarily focuses on banking and finance, especially financial regulation. His interest spans the role, design, and application of incentive regulation/supervision in the banking and financial services sector. He is also interested in the history of financial developments in the United States, Europe, China, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. While at JHU, he was awarded the Dean's Teaching Fellowship for his design of a new course, "Financial Regulations in the US: History and Framework," which he continues to develop at CUHK.
