Biography
April is an Assistant Professor in School of Education and Languages, The Open University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining the Open University of Hong Kong in September 2016, she has taught postgraduate courses about discourse analysis and LAC/CLIL, supervised Master of Education and Master of Arts (TESOL) dissertations and projects at Faculty of Education, the University of Hong Kong. She completed a Ph.D. in English language education at the University of Hong Kong in 2015. Her main research interests are in the areas of sociolinguistics, language and gender, and content and language integrated learning (CLIL). Her recent publications have appeared/will appear in Discourse and Communication, Linguistics Research, Language and Education, Chinese Journal of Communication, International Journal of Applied Linguistics, and Encyclopedia of Language and Education (Springer). Over the last five years, she has also been working with frontline secondary school teachers on LAC/English curriculum design in a number of national contexts.
