Concurrently I started a professional institute and was elected the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. I joined the Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1984 as a Lecturer and later the City Polytechnic in 1990. I obtained the Masters of Social Sciences from the Hong Kong University in 1989. I was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1991. I obtained the Doctor of Education from Bristol University in 2007. Now I am teaching Associate Degree students in quantity surveying project, measurement and courses of construction contracts in the legal studies of the Division. In 2008 I have obtained the LLM degree from the City University of Hong Kong. Since 2002, termite study has become an important part of my academic career. As a team member, I have completed a research and compiled a termite control manual for the Hong Kong Government. I appeared in two television programmes of current affairs in Hong Kong to discuss the problems and measures to tackle termites. I have supervised five associate degree program students in their independent studies in topics related to termite. I have presented papers in three TRG conferences. I was an Invited Speaker in the Pest Summit 2014 Kuala Lumpur for an 831-strong audience. Furthermore I have now joined a research team to study the problems of bed bugs in the airline and related industries. I have been interviewed by two newspapers and one radio station respectively about the possible solutions to fight bed bugs in Hong Kong.
