Biography
Dr. Kacskovics received his DVM degree in 1987, and his PhD (immunology) in 1998 from the University of Veterinary Science, Budapest where he worked as a senior scientist until 2006. He spent his postdoctoral training at the University of Iowa from 1991 to 1994, and has been a visiting scientist at the Karolinska Institute since 1995. Since 2006, he has been an Associate Professor at the Department of Immunology, Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. He is an expert in immunoglobulins and Fc receptors areas (50 per-reviewed publications). He was Secretary General (2001-2007) and President-elect (2010-2013) of the Hungarian Society for Immunology; Chair of the Comparative Immunoglobulin Workshop, International Union of Immunological Societies (2004-present); Member of the Advisory Board of European Veterinary Immunology Group, European Federation of Immunological Societies (2004-present) and Secretary General of the Immunology Committee, Section of Biological Sciences, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is also a member of the European Academy of Sciences & Arts (2008-present ) and Co-president of the Baross Gábor Nemzeti Gazdaságpártoló Társaság, Hungary (2011 –present ) Imre received several fellowships and awards, like Bolyai János Research Fellowship from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1998), Széchenyi István Research Fellowship from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Hungary (2001), Golden Medal of Szent István University (2006) and the title of "Innovative Researcher of the year 2010" from the Eötvös Loránd University.
