Reactor Analysis Laboratory

Biography
The activity of the Reactor Analysis Laboratory is traditionally based on its static and kinetic reactor physics calculations, taking into account the feedbacks. For the latter purpose, calculation methods are jointly studied and applied in conjunction with thermo-hydraulic and thermo-mechanical algorithms. Of the nuclear testing equipment to be tested, special attention is paid to the active zone of VVER-440, VVER-1000 and Budapest Research Reactor. For these purposes, KARATE code zone design and KIKO3D three dimensional reactor kinetic code have been developed. The quantification (validation) of calculation accuracy, the reduction of uncertainties, and the special (eg, licensing) applications of the developed methods are also an important part of the research and development activity of the laboratory.
