Michael Deleon

Biography

I am the North American Product Manager for the Spark Optical Emission Spectroscopy product lines of Spectro Analytical Instruments. Working closely with field sales and our marketing group to ensure the right analytical solution is provided for our customers. I am also the Applications Department Manager for Spectro Analytical Instruments North America. I coordinate projects for and manage both of Spectro Analytical Instruments'​ USA demonstration laboratories. My academic career includes a wealth of experience in a variety of analytical techniques such as AFM, TEM, High Resolution XRD, XAS, NEFS, TEY, and SEM-XRF. Much of my research during my time with the New Jersey Institute of Technology was conducted at the National Synchrotron Light Source in Brookhaven National Labs. My focus was on the analysis strongly correlated electronic systems. I have used a variety of thin layer deposition techniques such as Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) (Naval Research Laboratories) and Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) (in the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) for the manufacture of thin films from single monolayer to large crystalline layers. In my professional career as an Applications Scientist for Spectro Analytical Instruments for the X-ray Fluorescence and Spark Optical Emission Spectroscopy products lines, I work closely with sales, marketing, research and development, product management, service, and, of course, a wide customer base. The industries I have worked closely with include pharmaceutical, consumer goods, petrochemical, geological, and various metals industries. I also participate in ASTM committees to further international standards and specifications crucial for the various industries we serve.
