Biography
We investigate the genomic background of asthma. We developed a mouse model of allergen-induced asthma in wild type and genetically modified mice. We study the changes in the gene expressions with DNA micro/macroarrays during the disease processes. Those genes, which expression change significantly, must play some role in the pathomechanism of the asthma. We created a gene bank from children with asthma. We would like to screen these children for polymorphisms, and mutations in candidate genes (with promoters and regulatory regions) with a high throughput method like SNP microarray. The candidate genes are genes from the animal model and from the results of whole genome screening and gene association studies in the scientific literature.
