James Cheasty

Biography

James Cheasty is a Research Director of VanDeMark Chemical, Cheasty has more than 38 years of experience in the chemical industry, primarily in Research and Development, and over 33 years of experience with VanDeMark Chemical Company. Mr. Cheasty began his employment with VanDeMark in 1983, and was appointed to the position of Research Director in 1995, after having served as Research Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Manager, and Quality Control Laboratory Manager. Mr. Cheasty’s responsibilities as Research Director with VanDeMark Chemical Company include: providing technical assistance to customers and members of other departments within VanDeMark (e.g. administration, sales, EHSQ, production); evaluating the economic viability and technical feasibility of potential new projects for the company; developing project outlines, designing experimental trials, and directing research activities on projects; project technical and commercial liaison with customers throughout the research phase of a project; supervision of R&D personnel, their development, safety and well-being; conducting data and literature searches; developing department budgets and keeping the department fiscally on-track; regular reporting on R&D activities and progress; and writing project reports. Prior to his employment with VanDeMark, Mr. Cheasty was employed by Akzo Nobel Chemicals, Inc. where he served as a Researcher with the Process Development Group. Mr. Cheasty holds a Masters of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Masters of Science in Chemistry from the State University College of New York at Buffalo, and Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Empire State College of New York. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association.
