Biography
EVP of R&D, born in 1960, resides in Iceland. Þorvaldur joined Össur in 2009 as Medical Officer. Þorvaldur Ingvarsson is a MD from University of Iceland and holds a PhD degree from the University of Lund in Sweden, with emphasis on osteoarthritis and health economic outcomes. Þorvaldur has 19 years of experience as an orthopaedic surgeon. Þorvaldur has been an associative professor at the University of Iceland since 2005. Prior to joining Össur he held a medical director position as well as a CEO position within the hospital setting. Þorvaldur’s experience as a member of the Board of Directors in other companies / organizations includes: University Hospital Akureyri (1998 - 2009) Medor (since 2011) Þorvaldur holds 19,795 shares in the Company.
Research Interest
Þorvaldur has published more than 40 scientific papers and is currently involved in international research projects related to osteoarthritis, ligament healing, health economics outcomes and biomechanics of prostheses. Þorvaldur’s experience as a member of the Board of Directors in other companies/organizations includes: University Hospital Akureyri (1998 - 2009) and Medor (since 2011).
