The main research emphasis is on energy biotechnology, espcially on thermophilic microorganism that valuable products from biomass. Among ongoing projects are. BioHydrogen - production of hydrogen by thermophilic, anaerobic bacteria BioEthanol - production of ethanol from biomass by thermophilic, anaerobic bacteria Protein from hydrogen - production of singel cell protein (SCP) by thermophilic hydrogen oxidizing bacteria Sulphur bacteria - Utilization of sulphur oxidizing bacteria from Icelandic hot-springs Glycerol - production of valuable biotechnological products from glycerol with thermophilic, anaerobic bacteria.
