Biography
Dr. Vikrant Kumar is a new appointee in the department. He received the M. Sc. degree in chemistry from C. C. S. University Meerut and Ph. D. degree in bioinorganic chemistry from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. In 2008, as a Visiting Young Scientist, he conducted research on Construction of metal substituted myoglobin and its mutants (Artificial metal-enzymes)" supported by Global Center of Excellence" in Chemistry of Nagoya University , Japan . Dr. Kumar has published several technical research papers in leading scientific journals. His publications have good citation by scientific and technological community. He is an active reviewer of three reputed international journals published by Taylor and Francis and Wiley Interscience. His current research efforts focus on the design of reactive metal complexes with applications to biomedical science.
Research Interest
The overall goal of his research is to provide excellence in the field of inorganic chemistry and nanomaterials through a multi-disciplinary approach, including analytical, synthetic, inorganic and biochemical techniques. More specifically, he is developing synthetic coordination chemistry of transition metal ions and ligand design with focus on systems using amino acids/piperazine/imidazole-containing chelating ligands, complexes of deprotonated pyridine/pyrazine amide ligands, and bioinorganic synthetic model complexes of metalloenzyme active sites.
