Vikram K. Ramanathan

Biography

"Dr. Vikram K. Ramanathan is Senior Vice President and Chief of Technical Operations at Advinus Bangalore. A founding employee of Advinus from 2005, he played a pivotal role in setting up its DMPK department and served the Company for about eight years. In addition to his role as Head of DMPK and Clinical Pharmacology, he also led the preclinical and clinical development of Advinus’ internal molecules. After a short stint away, he rejoined the Company in 2015. Vikram obtained his PhD from the Pharmaceutical Chemistry graduate program (Pharmaceutics pathway), School of Pharmacy at the University of California at San Francisco under the guidance of Dr. Kathleen M. Giacomini in whose laboratory he studied epithelial neurotransmitter transporters and their role in pharmacokinetics and disposition. He subsequently did a postdoctoral fellowship in Dr. Zach W. Hall’s laboratory at the NIH, Bethesda, where he used cellular and molecular techniques to study the cellular trafficking and expression of the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor. Vikram has 20 years of pharma industry experience in drug discovery and development, in both R&D and CRO settings, in the US and India. He started his career at SmithKline Beecham/GlaxoSmithKline in the Philadelphia area where he spent several years before returning to India to set up and head the Discovery DMPK department at Ranbaxy Research Laboratories in Gurgaon. Prior to rejoining Advinus, he was Vice President, DMPK and Bioanalysis at Cadila Healthcare Ltd. where he supported the development of NCEs, biologicals and generic drugs."
