Agharkar Research Institute
India
Biography
Her Education includes: M. Sc. (Botany, Genetics & Plant Breeding specialization) Ph.D. (Chemistry) and Ph.D. Thesis: Condensed Chromatin in Higher Plants. Her main area of research at Agharkar Research Institute involves the use of molecular markers for improvement of crops particularly wheat, grapes and to some extent soybean, For about last 20 years at ARI, she have been associated with various projects involving use of molecular markers and other molecular techniques.
Research Interest
Apart from the crop improvement, the biotechnological approach has been extended to biodiversity program for characterizing the diversity, molecular taxonomy, profiling of medicinal plants and their authentication, DNA barcoding as well as phylogenetic analysis of taxa using sequence analysis of nuclear and chloroplast DNA regions are some other interests.
