Srijan Deshpande

Biography

Srijan has over 10 years of experience of experience in Music and has worked across various music-related domains including Stage Performance, Teaching, Heritage Preservation, Research, Music Technology and Musical Instruments. Srijan has a Masters’ in Performing Arts from Shivaji University, Kolhapur and has received a Research Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India for studying and documenting the various Gharana traditions of Hindustani Music. He also has an interest in musical instruments and has a patent pending on a new instrument that is currently under development. Srijan performs Hindustani Art Music on the concert stage. He has taught Bachelors’ and Masters’ students of music at MIT’s Vishwashanti Sangeet Kala Academy, Pune and at the FLAME University’s School of Performing Arts, Pune. He currently divides his time between teaching at Ahmedabad University and at the Saptak School of music. He is also associated with Saptak Archives, Ahmedabad as Deputy Curator. Srijan has also variously been a professional web-developer with several websites to his credit, a sound-engineer with published albums to his credit as well as an archivist with over 10 years of experience in the preservation, documentation and dissemination of Hindustani music. Srijan's other passions include books and chai.
