Biography
Sumitava Mukherjee is a behavioral and cognitive scientist who studies how humans make judgments and decisions about objects, people, experiences and possibilities. A broader interest is in finding behavioral insights that can help to increase well-being. Sumitava has an interdisciplinary academic background and employs multiple research methods. His previous work has explored the role of cognitive processes like attention in decision making. He has collaborated with faculty from multiple countries and is eager to discuss interesting projects for advancing the understanding of how we think, form preferences and make decisions. Dr. Mukherjee is a member of the Association for Psychological Sciences (APS), USA; National Academy of Psychology (NAOP), India and the Indian Science Congress. His more recent thoughts are towards: (a) how people value and use time, (b) how can we have a broad estimate of human well-being, (c) how narratives influence daily thinking. Interested students can directly get in touch via email for possible internships. However, Dr. Mukherjee is not accepting doctoral students as of now.
