Biography
His doctoral work was awarded the 'best dissertation prize' by the American Studies Research Centre,Hyderabad for the year 1996. Presently he is Professor, Department of Political Science, A.M.U., Aligarh. He specializes in Strategic Studies. He also has a keen interest in electoral studies and Muslim Politics in India.His work has been published in journals like The Round Table: The Commonwealth Journal of International Affairs, Economic and Political Weekly, Seminar, Humanities and Social Science Review, Studies in Indian Politics, South Asian Studies, Studies in Islam, Foreign Affairs Reports and Indian Journal of Politics etc. He has written one book and edited three volumes. He was a visiting scholar in a Fulbright programme at Southern Illinois University in 1999.He is a fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminars, Austria. Beg is on the editorial board of several international journals and has been a referee to quite a few journals.He is the coordinator of (U.P.-West) for the academic surveys conducted by the Center for the Study of Developing Societies.
