Biography

Our experimental high-energy physicists group has traditional work using nuclear emulsion technique. We have published about more than 120 papers in the reputed national/international journals on various interestiong features of multiparticle production in hadron-hadron, hadron-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions. Presently our group is engaged in an International collaboration ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment). In this collaboration about 900 Physicists/Engineers from 27 countries, including France, U.K., Italy, Germany, and Russia are involved. The main aim of the collaboration is to search for the production of Quark-Gluon-Plasma in lead-lead collisions at LHC (CERN, European Centre for Particle and Nuclear Research) energies. We, alongwith the High Energy Physicists of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Kolkata have designed and fabricated the second station of the Di-Muon Spectrometer for the ALICE at LHC, CERN. Many experiments for reaching consequences is currently being performed at LHC that plumb of the mysteries of the Universe by recreating the conditions which existed at the time of Big-Bang., producing particles that have not been seen since the beginning of the time itself. Secrets of nature that the LHC is likely to resolve include the origin of matter and mass, the existence of extra dimensions and the what about the dark matter and dark energy which composes approximately 96% of the universe but are invisible to the physicists today. The European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN), Geneva (Switzerland) has finally succeeded in commissioning the worlds most powerful accelerator, Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This marvelous Machine has an expenditure of whopping equivalent of 50,000 crores of Indian Rupees. The main aim is to perform experiment at an energy which has never been produced with the idea that new experimentation which are the backbone of the development.
