Biography

Dr. Mohammad Mobin has 29 years of extremely active and productive career working at the Aligarh Muslim University and multinational Seawater Desalination Research Institute, Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. At Aligarh Muslim University he is working as Professor at the Department of Applied Chemistry and involved in the teaching and research in the field of materials and corrosion. At SWCC, during the period 2001 to 2006, he worked as Corrosion Researcher and carried out applied and evaluation research projects, root cause failure investigations and pilot plant studies with reference to corrosion problems in world?s largest desalination and power plants and water transmission/storage systems. He was expert on a number of committees to assess the condition of materials in power plants, seawater reverse osmosis and MSF plants. Dr. Mobin has completed 28 root cause failure investigations, 8 major and 3 minor research projects on materials and corrosion including two projects under international collaboration. He was the team leader of a collaborative research project between SWCC and AB Alvenius Industrier, Sweden for the evaluation of thermoplastic coated steel pipes to find application as high pressure piping system in SWRO plants. He also led a team of researchers to evaluate fusion bonded epoxy coatings offered by 3M, DuPont and AKZO Nobel to find application in product water transmission lines. He was a member of the Joint research project between SWCC and EBARA Research Japan to evaluate duplex and super duplex stainless steels to find application as seawater pump material. Dr. Mobin has a Ph.D. on corrosion and authored 101 research papers. He is a member of NACE International and Life Member, ISAS-DC. He has also attended 30 national/international conferences/workshops. Dr. Mobin was awarded the NIIS (NACE International India Section) corrosion awareness award in the year 2007.
