Prof. Najmul Islam

Biography

Prof. Najmul Islam is working in the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, J.N.Medical College, A.M.U., Aligarh, U.P., India has more than 25 years of teaching and research experience, and that, he has been the former Head of the Department (HOD). Also, he has Post Doctoral Fellow experience from the Department of Biotechnology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India as well as in the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Orthopedics and Division of Infectious Diseases, School of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), Cleveland, Ohio, U. S. A. Currently, he is Member, Fellowship Committee of Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences (IABS), Lucknow, India as well as Executive Committee Member of SFRR-India. Also, he was President of Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences in 2015, Vice President in 2014 and Joint Secretary in 2013. He is also the external co-opted Member of Board of Studies, Department Biochemistry, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, U. P., and Department of Biochemistry, University of Allahabad, U. P., India. Furthermore, he is also the Editorial Board Member of the journal "Annals of Phytomedicine", India. Prof. Najmul Islam is currently the the elected member of AMU Court. Furthermore, he has published around 60 research papers and has more than 1291 citations (i10 index=24; h-index=16) in International Peer Reviewed Journals for his published work, whereas as around 100 International Peer Reviewed Journals has cited his published work. Furthermore, his published work has been cited also in around 30 books published by foreign authors. Also, his published work has appeared in around 50 International / National Press Releases. Moreover, the impact factors for his total publications are more than 85. Two research projects were under his operation during the last five years were sanctioned by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi and Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh (UP-CST). He is also the core member of DST-FIST programme under level-1 category sanctioned to the Department of Biochemistry by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, New Delhi, India. Till date, he has guided 12 Ph. D. students and currently 04 students are pursuing their Ph. D. programme under his guidance. Also, he has guided 01 M. Phil student as supervisor and 01 M. Phil student as co-supervisor. Furthermore, he has guided 04 MD students as Supervisor and more than 30 MD students from various clinical departments as Co-supervisor.
