Biography
Rifaqat Ali Khan Rao has passed M.Sc.(Analytical Chemistry) in 1977 and obtained Ph.D. (Analytical Chemistry) in 1980 from Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh. He served in Geological Survey of India (Govt. of India, Ministry of steel and mines, Deptt. of mines) as chemist from 1983 to 1989 and then joined Department of Applied Chemistry, Z.H.College of Eng. and Technology, AMU, Aligarh as Lecturer in 1989. At present he is working as professor in the Department of Applied chemistry. His research area is Environmental chemistry and teaching Engineering Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry and atmospheric Chemistry to B.Tech students. His research area includes heavy metal removal from industrial wastewater (Electroplating wastewater) using low cost non-conventional adsorbents. He has published a number of research papers in the journals of international repute like water Research, Bioresource Technology, Journal of Hazardous materials, Separation and Purification Technology, Colloids and surfaces, Adsorption Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering Journal etc.
