Biography
Zaki Anwar Siddiqui, Professor, Department of Botany, A.M.U. Aligarh was borne on 29th September 1963, Graduated from Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh, India in 1982. He has passed his Post Graduation in 1984 and obtained his M. Phil and Ph.D. in 1986 and 1990 respectively from the same university. He has worked as Research Associate, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi from 1992-1996. Dr. Siddiqui was appointed Lecturer at Aligarh Muslim University on 16 January, 1996 and Reader on 15 June, 2006. He was appointed Associate Professor on 15 June 2009 and Professor on 15 June, 2012. Dr. Siddiqui was Visiting Professor at Kyoto University, Japan from 1st October, 2007 to 30 September 2008. He has published more than 118 research papers and review articles and edited 2 books published from Springer, Netherlands. Dr. Siddiqui has worked as Principal investigator of two major research projects sanctioned by Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi and University Grants commission, New Delhi on the Biological control of plant diseases. He is reviewer of more than 10 journals of his field including Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture, Biocontrol Science and Technology, Biological Agricultural and Horticulture, Biological control, Crop Protection, Soil Biology and Biochemistry, Plant and Soil and Journal of Applied Microbiology. His main area of research is biological control of plant diseases using plant growth promoting rhizobacteria, mycorrhizal fungi and some antagonistic fungi. Dr Siddiqui has also worked on the plant disease complexes involving nematodes, fungi and bacteria. He has participated and delivered invited talks in several national and international conferences and has visited China, Japan, Australia,Latin America and Spain.
