Biography

I obtained M.Sc., M.Phil and Ph.D degrees in Zoology (Entomology) from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. I have a total of 18 years research experience excluding the research period of M.Phil. and Ph.D. Thereafter I joined, the Central Silk Board in December, 1994 and worked at Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute, Pampore (Kashmir) and Central Tasar Research and Training Institute, Ranchi as Scientist for 15 years. I confined my research on various aspects of Sericulture and published a book entitled Pests and diseases of Mulberry and their management and a number of research papers have been published both in the National and International journals of repute. I joined as Associate Professor in October, 2009 in the Department of Zoology, AMU, Aligarh. Presently, I am involved in the teaching of Comparative Anatomy of Vertebrates to undergraduate students and Insect Systematics & Taxonomy, Insect Pathology and Agricultural & Forest Entomology to M. Sc. students. My area of research is Taxonomy of Chalcid wasps (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea). I am working as a Co-PI, in the ICAR Network Project on Insect Biosystematics and also, have a DST-SERB project on Indian Encyrtidae as PI. I have published a number of research papers on Insect taxonomy in the peer reviewed journals and also, a monograph on a revision of the Indian Species of Gonatocerus Nees (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Mymaridae)in the journal, Oriental Insects. Awarded INSA-DFG fellowship for visiting ZSM, Munich Germany and worked on taxonomy of the European Mymaridae with Dr. Schmidt Stefan, Leader Hymenoptera Section at ZSM w.e.f 01. 11. 2014 to 30-11.2014.
