Biography

Dr. Shahla did her graduation (M.B.B.S.) from G.S.V.M. Medical College, Kanpur, and postgraduation (D.A. & M.D.) in Anaesthesiology from J.N. Medical College, AMU Aligarh, in 1986 & 1988 respectively. The crunch for research compel for Ph.D.in Anaesthesiology (awarded in 2009). Main domain of research is "Surgery induced Stress". Current research areas are: challenging anaesthesia with focus on management of patient with difficult airway, neuroanaesthesia, and obstetric anaesthesia. She has teaching experience of >32 years for UG and > 30+1/2 yrs. for PG students. Dr. Shahla published 94 research articles and case reports in various reputed journals including Anaesthesia Analgesia, Anaesthesia, British Journal of Anaesthesia, Neurosciences, JIMA, supervised 24 Research Scholar for MD & MS thesis as supervisor and cosupervisor, coined 5 new medical terms. Published Chapter: 1. ?AN APPROACH TO OBSTETRIC EMERGENCIES (APH, PPH, Obstetric sepsis, amniotic fluid embolism) and Chapter 2. ?Non invasive monitoring? released in 4th SGPGI PG ANAESTHESIOLOGY REFRESHER COURSE 2016 in Textbook Manual of Clinics in Anaesthesiology Also published as article in Neurocon UP UK 2015 in souvenir ?Traumatic Brain Injury: Role of Golden Hour in Management of Trauma Victims? Lays great emphasis on practical training of undergraduate and postgraduate students, for which the operation theatres have been upgraded with latest workstations (Dragger-Primus) multichannel monitors including BIS and 'Spirobank' to perform spirometry in the OT and OPD . The PG students are being trained to use recently introduced Advanced Airway Devices and volatile anaesthetics Sevoflurane and Isoflurane for maintenance of General Anaesthesia. Dr. Shahla is Examiner/Expert for MD& DA Examination (Anaesthesiology) Thesis/Examination of several Universities.
