Upendra Choudhury

Biography

Dr. Upendra Choudhury specialises, teaches and conducts research on International Politics with a special focus on South Asia. He has received his Ph.D. on Security in a Period of Strategic Uncertainty: A Study of India's Ballistic Missile Programme from CPS/SSS, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and authored one book entitled as Nuclear Risk Reduction Measures in South Asia, Manohar Publications, New Delhi, 2006. He has also contributed several book chapters, encyclopaedia entries and articles and research papers in reputed magazines and refereed journals like Economic and Political Weekly, Indian Defence Review, Indian Journal of Politics (India), Bulletin of Atomic Scientist (USA), The South Asian Strategic Stability Institute Research Report (UK), Social Alternatives (Australia), and The Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies Journal (Bangladesh). He has contributed several articles to Newspapers like Hindu, Hindustan Times, National Herald, Tribune, Deccan Herald, Newstime etc. He has presented twenty-two research papers at seminars/conferences in India, Russia (Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology), United States (Ohio State University & Harvard University), United Kingdom (Lancaster University & London School of Economics and Political Science), Australia (University of Sydney), Canada (International Studies Association), Germany (Irmgard Coninx Foundation), South Africa (University of Stellenbosch) and Japan (Ritsumeikan University) and completed several independent research projects sponsored by the Indian and foreign funding agencies like the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, Regional Centre for Strategic Studies, Colombo/Ford Foundation, New Delhi, South Asian Strategic Stability Institute, London etc. Dr. Upendra Choudhury specialises, teaches and conducts research on International Politics with a special focus on South Asia.
